Local and Cloud targets

Choose where Cortex executes while preserving one governed session.

Target Best for Boundary
local Fast workspace work using the connected execution host Commands and file changes require local approval
cloud Durable managed work, validation and release evidence Requires Cloud readiness and a reviewed handoff

Select with --execution-target TARGET or /target TARGET. Availability comes from the server and can differ by tenant, client and session.

Move work to Cloud

Section titled “Move work to Cloud”
  1. Run cortex cloud readiness.
  2. Inspect the session and workspace revision.
  3. Run cortex cloud handoff SESSION_ID --cwd ..
  4. Review and apply the immutable handoff payload.
  5. Follow progress with cortex cloud status SESSION_ID or the workflow views.

Changing targets does not copy secret credentials between clients. Use an explicit handoff when a different target is required.
