Interactive terminal
Chat, attach context, review changes and control Cortex without leaving the terminal.
cortex chat --workspace . --mode autocortex chat --workspace . --file screenshot.pngauto uses the full-screen interface on an interactive terminal and falls back
to inline output elsewhere. Use --mode inline, --no-color, --ascii,
--screen-reader, --keymap default|emacs|vim, or --reduced-motion to match
the environment and accessibility needs.
Work in a session
Section titled “Work in a session”Type / to open the command palette. /chat manages sessions, history,
forks, search, copy and Markdown export. /attach adds selected files or
images. /security groups review, scanning, threat-model, test and mutation
workflows. /skills, /mcp, /research, /diff and /settings expose the
corresponding governed controls.
Use /target local|cloud to choose an available execution surface. Switching
targets reconnects under the server-selected binding.
Review actions
Section titled “Review actions”Cortex keeps reading and rendering server events while an approval or question is open. Approve only the displayed action. Repository instructions, hooks and repository skills remain disabled until separately trusted.
