How Cortex works

Routing

How Model, Search and Skill Routing connect an objective with eligible intelligence.

Cortex separates three decisions. Model Routing selects an allowed model profile for the work. Search Routing decides whether current public sources are needed and applies search limits. Skill Routing selects reviewed task guidance relevant to the objective.

Routing applies the organization’s available capabilities and policy to the current objective. A user can request an available response mode or profile, but cannot bypass an organization restriction or access a provider credential.

Available choices can vary by product, plan and organization settings. Cortex shows when a requested option is unavailable so the user can choose an allowed alternative.
